Sollentuna entrepreneur in major wellness initiative

Millions invested in developing a treatment machine for back pain

Hans Bohlin, a Sollentuna resident and CEO of the wellness company Atlasbalans, has invested millions in developing a treatment machine to make the treatment of neck and back pain more effective.

“It is important to invest in staying healthy, when you are ill it is already too late

The words belong to Hans Bohlin who, together with his son Axel, has spent the last three years building up the wellness company Atlasbalans, which already had a turnover of around SEK 2 million in its first year. Today there are several therapists in Sweden with the common goal of streamlining the treatment of poor posture and back problems – and to give the customer knowledge about the body in a simple way.

At the heart of the business is an Image Diagnosis that uses six photographs to clearly show the customer’s balance and posture – but above all the Swedish-developed AtlasOrange1 treatment machine, an industrial project that is now ready for mass production.

The machine uses mechanical pulsations and uses similar frequencies to the more well-known shockwave therapy, but with a variation that makes the treatment softer for the client. Optimized for treating connective tissue and hard-to-reach areas such as the neck, the machine has led to thousands of clients over the years noticing clear improvements, mainly with balance and posture.

Export and international cooperation

“Connective tissue, together with balance and posture, are areas that are being focused on more and more. We’ve met physiotherapists from Finland who work exclusively with connective tissue, for example,” says Hans. Earlier this week, he also met with a world-leading manufacturer of diagnostic equipment to measure balance and posture – equipment used by several football clubs from Serie A, the Premier League and the German Bundesliga.

“It was great to see so many studies showing the importance of balance and posture, performance and health. They help us realize that we are on the right track

Interest in preventive health care is growing, not only when it comes to people. During the autumn AtlasOrange1 has been successfully used in the treatment of horses – a development area that Atlasbalans will focus more on in 2014. Other goals for next year are a large-scale establishment on the Swedish market and increased exports to Finland and possibly Germany. But first it is time for a much-needed vacation. The family starts the new year with two weeks in the Canary Islands:

“It will be incredibly nice after another busy year.” says Hans, who is, however, taking the opportunity to combine business with pleasure – a potential customer in the form of a golf club is to be visited.

“I’m taking two machines with me on vacation and hopefully I won’t have to bring them home.”
