A family business with many Umeå connections is now entering a new industry – namely maternity care.

– “This could be a billion-dollar industry if it has around 10% penetration in the EU,” says the company’s CEO.

The company Fascia Innovation has developed a wellness concept that treats horses and others. Last winter, the company was awarded the international Good Design Award for its new M1 and M2 products, which are based on the latest anatomical research in fascia and connective tissue treatment.

Now, their fascia treatment machine is also being used for pain relief during childbirth. This by Cayenne Ekjordh, a midwife since 1975.

– One mother went from panic to almost falling asleep in ten minutes, she says.

When Ekjordh tried the treatment herself, also known as fascia vibes or deep wave therapy, she was fascinated.

– I was totally relaxed and felt like a pancake,” says Cayenne Ekjordh.

Hans Bohlin believes that this can help women both before and after childbirth and provide a new perspective on childbirth in the EU and worldwide.

– And there is certainly a business perspective that can create a new export success of education, services and products. “Five million babies are born in the EU every year,” says Bohlin.

Fascia Innovation’s CEO Hans Bohlin is now based in Sollentuna, where the company is headquartered, but comes from Umeå. Charlotta Bohlin in the company grew up in Skravelsjö and board member Lena Bohlin is from Röbäck. The course teacher at Atlasbalans is Åke Renman, the first osteopath in Västerbotten, active in Umeå since 2001.
